NaNoWriMo I accepted the challenge of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in 2011. NaNoWriMo is a fun approach to creative writing where participants write a 50, 000 word novel during the month of November. "Candle Lake" was born from this challenge. I met the word count in November and continued on to complete it in January of 2012 at a word count of 145,000 words. The next 3 years saw me submitting to beta readers and doing many edits. If you ever needed an excuse to write, NaNoWriMo is a good way to get yourself going. Mimi Barbour I was introduced to Mimi by my Aunty. Without hesitation, Mimi was kind enough to dedicate some time to me and provide feedback on samples of my writing. But she didn't stop there. She shared resources with me to help me grow in my craft. Mimi is an author who writes believable, likable and unforgettable characters! Learn more about Mimi by visiting her Author Page. Eva Shaw Eva is a professional ghostwriter and teaches writing classes worldwide. I was fortunate enough to be able to take many of Eva's courses. Her nudges of encouragement were always appreciated and help[ed me to go that step further in my writing. Visit Eva's Author Page to learn more about her. Cheryl Kaye Tardiff Cheryl is an inspiration. I was fortunate to participate in some on-line events where she answered my many questions regarding writing and publishing. Cheryl Kaye Tardif is an international bestselling Canadian author who has published over 14 titles. She is also the publisher at Imajin Books, a venture that is dear to her heart. Imajin Books publishes quality international fiction at affordable prices, with a focus on ebooks. Amberjack Publishing
I submitted various drafts of "Candle Lake" over the past couple of years and received rejections with no information other than I wasn't what they were looking for. When I submitted to Amberjack, what I got back was not a rejection letter, but insight as to where "Candle Lake" fell short. Their feedback was valuable and spot on. Thank you Amberjack Publishing for taking the time to go that extra step.
