Worthy of Mention
People and Places on the Web Worth Mentioning
No matter what life throws at you, you have to keep going. Keep doing what makes you happy. For me, that is writing.
I have asked for help with my blog posts because my calendar is full with tasks for ... LIFE! And I am very grateful that the talented Mr. Crow has agreed to help me with my #WritingWednesday by providing us with his story "A Running River". In case you missed it, you can read Part One here and Part Two here. I personally am anxiously awaiting part three! However, I have also been invited to guest post for my friends Adele and Jeremy. It is a good feeling when you know people enjoy your writing and it feels even better when they ask you to share it! For Adele I decided to share a piece about the people that influence our lives. I had posted this years ago under the name SweeteRae but I felt it still needed to be out there for people to read. With the internet making the world seem a smaller place and the population steadily increasing, I think we can all relate. I hope you enjoy my piece "People Come and People Go". For Jeremy I wrote about politics. I don't normally discuss politics, except with my husband, and even then, we don't really discuss it too much. But with our recent elections history has been made in Alberta and I simply could not keep quiet! I hope people of Alberta can relate to my thoughts in my piece "Alberta, Canada -- Elections 2015" Thank you to all of my readers for supporting me and for supporting my fellow writers. If you would like me to guest blog for you, feel free to leave a comment below or send me a message on my Google+ or my FaceBook

This is a shout out, a great big thank you, to the friends I made on Google+ who have become a part of my personal support group. Each of them brings to the table a different set of talents.
These guest posts allowed me to focus on my family AND write chapter five of “Cold” for #SerialSaturday. I am very thankful for this time as my family really needs their momma right now but momma still needs to write.
I wanted to bring some more attention to these talented writers. The past couple of months have marked my return to share my love of writing and these four people have encouraged me and supported me. This was just one way I could say thank you to them. It was a pleasure to collaborate with each of them and I look forward to many more opportunities to do so in the future. Please visit each of the links above and show your support. I promise you will be glad you did! It was an honor to be invited to be a guest blogger for fellow writer Christian Touchet. It was the first time I was ever invited to blog on another person's page. To say I was thrilled would be an understatement. Now, I don't think my little post got nearly as much attention as his typically do, but, here is what Christian thought of my contribution: I like this for several reasons. Firstly, it's true. We all have skeltons and inner demons. You can either face them, and your fears, or you can try to hide from them thereby allowing them to control you. Embrace them and you'll find liberation. Check out my post on Christian's blog. And while you're there, have a look around. He sparks good conversation.
These are authors who have inspired and motivated me personally. Please visit their sites to show your support. David Rennie Dave is a technical writer/reviewer. Manufacturers value his input on their products and the consumer relies on it to make important purchasing decisions. Writing under the name "cadaveca", you can find Dave's reviews on TechPowerUp. NaNoWriMo I accepted the challenge of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in 2011. NaNoWriMo is a fun approach to creative writing where participants write a 50, 000 word novel during the month of November. "Candle Lake" was born from this challenge. I met the word count in November and continued on to complete it in January of 2012 at a word count of 145,000 words. The next 3 years saw me submitting to beta readers and doing many edits. If you ever needed an excuse to write, NaNoWriMo is a good way to get yourself going. Mimi Barbour I was introduced to Mimi by my Aunty. Without hesitation, Mimi was kind enough to dedicate some time to me and provide feedback on samples of my writing. But she didn't stop there. She shared resources with me to help me grow in my craft. Mimi is an author who writes believable, likable and unforgettable characters! Learn more about Mimi by visiting her Author Page. Eva Shaw Eva is a professional ghostwriter and teaches writing classes worldwide. I was fortunate enough to be able to take many of Eva's courses. Her nudges of encouragement were always appreciated and help[ed me to go that step further in my writing. Visit Eva's Author Page to learn more about her. Cheryl Kaye Tardiff Cheryl is an inspiration. I was fortunate to participate in some on-line events where she answered my many questions regarding writing and publishing. Cheryl Kaye Tardif is an international bestselling Canadian author who has published over 14 titles. She is also the publisher at Imajin Books, a venture that is dear to her heart. Imajin Books publishes quality international fiction at affordable prices, with a focus on ebooks. Amberjack Publishing
I submitted various drafts of "Candle Lake" over the past couple of years and received rejections with no information other than I wasn't what they were looking for. When I submitted to Amberjack, what I got back was not a rejection letter, but insight as to where "Candle Lake" fell short. Their feedback was valuable and spot on. Thank you Amberjack Publishing for taking the time to go that extra step. This is a website that I am featured on. They share my writing and links to my page.
It is all about branding yourself and building that writers' platform. Many thanks to Richard for helping me get myself out there. http://www.emergingwritersonline.com/ |
